Myths figure culture, just as culture outlines myths. Myths are changeable and inconsistent, it alters with the time.
First, we need to understand what is a myth? Cambridge dictionary says, a traditional story, esp. one which explains the early history or a cultural belief or practice of a group of people, or explains a natural event is a myth. It is also a commonly believed but false idea. It is a type of emblematic sequence of events capable of containing manifold meanings. Similarly, design can signify many things as well.
Now we quickly understand some of the most common and prevalent myths of the design in the industry.
As a designer you put your heart and soul, give your hundred percent to make it best. Sometimes it is commonly possible to have a belief which makes you blind to understand that competitions do exist. It creates the myopic view where you don’t want to study other design and lives in a false impression. Eventually, it can lead to catastrophic failure of the design in the market.
2. Perfection can be achieved in the one design
As a designer you always want your ideas to be superior and design to be perfect, best and flawless. But it is very important to break the myth that no design is perfect and perfection cannot be achieved in one design.
3. To love your design is very important
Many designers shares their guru mantra that as a designer you should love the process of the designing and creation but while designing you as a designer fall in love with the design and consider it to be the most important. But this myth needs to be put aside because your love for your designs as a designer makes you blind and creates short-sightedness that eventually leads to failure in the market due to competitions.
